History

The Vanemuine Dance and Ballet School was established in 1994 as a ballet studio at the Vanemuine theatre with 24 students.

Over the years, the number of students increased and in 2001 the studio became Vanemuine Dance and Ballet School.

In 2002, classes for toddlers were opened, and in 2007, classes for the adults as well. Currently there are 150 students of different age attending in twelve classes. They are coached by 10 teachers and 3 accompanists.

In 2013, the school graduated its fourth class.

On 6th April 2014 school celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Our alumnae have joined theaters and dance companies, they also coach younger students of the school.

The principal of the Vanemuine Dance and Ballet School from its foundation is renowned Estonian prima ballerina Ms Elena Poznjak-Kõlar.
